I can’t spell the word “rogue” without a little help. Can anybody? Someone should make a rougelike, then. They’d clean up.

Until that day comes, we’re stuck with – careful now – roguelikes, and if you’re after a nice casual roguelike to play on your PC, Mac, or smartphone, why not make it Legends of Yore?

Legends of Yore comes highly recommended – John Walker’s a fan, and since I’m a fan of John Walker, it only seemed right to check it out. I’m glad I did. It’s light-hearted but comprehensive: dungeons, randomisation, quests, loot, skeletons to bash – I couldn’t be happier.

It’s grindy, of course – that’s a big part of the appeal with roguelikes – but for some reason I find the grind a little more wholesome here as compared to games like Pocket Tower or Tiny Planesville. I like bashing skeletons, see – if feels like an end in of itself – so the XP I’m rewarded with isn’t the only reward available.

Anyway, short post today because I’m off to meet Porter for coffee. Do feel free to join us. We’ll probably go to Cafe Rogue. Argh!
