In the old days, Eugene Jarvis would wander the arcades of Chicago hoping to spot the machines he’d designed: Defender and Robotron: 2084. He was always looking for the same thing, too.
Signs of vandalism.
Why? Because that meant that people cared. That meant he’d gotten to them. That meant that peopled loved and hated his games so much they were willing to try and punch their faces off.
All of which is a way of saying that, while walking around Brighton’s Develop conference this week, I’ve heard three or four people discussing the fact that they’ve just deleted New Star Soccer. They care. It’s gotten to them. They love it and they hate it and it’s taking up all their time.
Deletion is the new vandalism, then.
