Dust: An Elysian Tail hits XBLA this Wednesday, apparently. It has a slightly odd name that hopefully won’t hold it back, and it also has a glorious cartoon art style, tons of 2D violence, and, well, an awful lot of animal cameos.

We’re fans of animal cameos here at Hookshot – every weekend we get together in the Hookshot Treehouse (TM) to watch The Thin Red Line, and then Will performs some dramatic readings from The Grey, while Keith debunks the wolf science. Anyway, Dust looks super good in a hacky, slashy Vanillaware sort of way, and at least one of us is probably going to buy it. I bet Parkin does.

Know what’s weird, though? The whole thing is largely the work of one man, Dean Dodrill, who only brought someone else in to do the music. Look at it. That’s quite a lot of work you did there, Dean. I had to ask a friend come with me to Tescos the other day because I needed help carrying the shopping, so churning out an entire game of this quality by yourself is a bizarre kind of achievement indeed.

Anyway: combat, upgrades, quests, 1200 MSP.
