Ladies and Gentlemen, last night the team behind much beloved downloadable game blog Hookshot Inc won an award! It was something called a ‘Games Media Award’, and it was thrust into our hands for ‘best coverage of games on a blog’.
We drank quite a lot, had a few manly group hugs and then Donlan said ‘Sorry’ a few times. It was great!
This is a little blogpost to thank everyone who visits our little corner of the internet for their support, and indeed the Academy and all of our supportive families – few of whom really understand what it is we do.
It’s been a hectic six months, but to come out of it with a lump of perspex that shows that people like what we do (not to mention the cheer that went up when Hookshot’s name was read out) well… it makes it all worthwhile.
Other awards handed out during the night included ‘Specialist Writer – Print’ for Christian Donlan, ‘Specialist Writer – Online’ for Simon Parkin and ‘National Newspaper – Writer’ for Keith Stuart. I myself won bugger all – but I like to think that I won some sort of as-yet-unrevealed moral victory.
Much love, as ever, to our friends who also won on the night. Kieron Gillen being put up on a pedestal as a Games Media Legend has been a long time coming, Eurogamer’s victory was more than deserved and we’re all chuffed to bits that Keza won the inaugural Best Writer award.
That’s about it really. Thank you, brave Hookshoteers! We love you!
Hookshot Inc would also like to thank One Life Left. Without their love, advice and moral guidance none of this would have been possible. In fact, the award is pretty much theirs when you come to think about it. So thank you, OLL, for being the wind beneath our wings.
