Oh, Sony! Those guys! On the one hand investing in some of the most interesting downlaodable games of the day, such as Tokyo Jungle. On the other hand: pretending like they don’t have any hands at all.
Sure, PlayStation Mobile (PSM), a new App Store-style game service launched on their current App Store-style game service (PSN) today is unlikely to be a core pillar in the Japanese giant’s business temple. But then again: it’s neat idea so why don’t we know or understand more about it?
For example, did you know that any game purchased on PlayStation Mobile will play across PS Vita and any PlayStation-certified phone or tablets, no questions asked or additional money requested? That’s brilliant!
Or, did you know that all PlayStation Mobile games support an on-screen virtual DUALSHOCK controller but, if you’re using a PS Vita or Xperia PLAY device, you can play with traditional button controls, where applicable.
Buttons! Jeez we’ve missed those little guys. That’s a great feature.
Moreover, did you know that next month the PlayStation Mobile Developer Program launches, bundled with the official version of PlayStation Mobile SDK? That means it’s relatively straightforward for anyone to make a game and launch it for a Sony device. It’s like Net Yaroze all over again! Sort of.
Did you know PSM launches on PSN with a Sony app called Everybody’s Arcade that allows you to download games inside the app that allows you to download games inside the service that allows you to download games? That one’s Christopher Nolan’s total favourite.
Most importantly: did you know that Vlambeer’s Super Crate Box is available as one of the 21 launch titles? WITH BUTTONS? What are you even waiting for? Get involved.
